Southport Island

At The Southport General Store you can find groceries, prepared foods, ice cream, beer, wine, and WiFi. Check it out at http://www.southportgeneralstore.com

As you drive on to the Island over the bridge at Townsend Gut you will see Robinson's Wharf on the left which is the local fish market and lobster pound as well as a good restaurant and ice cream parlor.  

Near the Southport General Store is the local school, a bakery, the post office, the fire station and the Southport Historical Society.

The southern tip of the island is called Cape Newagen. This is where Southport Memorial Library is and another WiFi hot-spot.

In Cosy Harbor is  the Southport Yacht Club and at Dogfish Head there is an nice sandy beach.

St. Andrew Hospital is only a few miles away and can be reached at 207 633 2121

Area Hikes    

There are a few walking trails around the houses but if you are looking for some nice long walks you might try some of the Boothbay Land Trust walks:   http://www.bbrlt.org/bbrlt_hiking.html

Fishing   

In Boothbay Harbor there are boat tours and boats available to take people out fishing.  Our neighbor Jay Reynolds has a MAKO 23 which he does day charter fishing trips on.  He can be reached at (207) 633 3047

Kayak Trips

Shopping

Boothbay Harbor has a good selection of stores to visit including Hannaford's Super Market, lots of restaurants and tourist shops

Freeport is the home of LL Bean and many outlet stores which are less than an hour away
